TPF Recruitment is excited to represent a well-established, 40-staff independent accountancy firm that is seeking a Tax Assistant Manager / Manager to join their team. Position Overview:
As a Tax Assistant Manager / Manager, you will play a key role in the firm’s Private Client Tax team, delivering a high-quality service to a diverse portfolio of clients. You will be responsible for providing tax compliance and advisory services, working with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and a variety of personal tax clients.
Your role will include managing and mentoring junior members of staff, building strong client relationships, and identifying tax planning opportunities. You will also work closely with partners to help the firm grow and develop its tax offering.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, including high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and trusts.
* Prepare and review personal tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax legislation.
* Provide proactive tax planning advice on income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and other personal tax matters.
* Act as a key point of contact for client queries and build long-term relationships.
* Support partners in delivering bespoke tax advice to clients on complex issues.
* Mentor and oversee junior members of the team, ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently.
* Monitor deadlines and manage workflows to ensure all work is completed on time and within budget.
* Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and communicate relevant updates to clients and colleagues.
* Assist with HMRC enquiries and tax investigations as required.
* Contribute to business development activities, helping to attract new clients and grow the firm’s tax practice.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
* CTA/ATT qualified (or equivalent), with significant experience in a private client tax role.
* Proven experience managing a personal tax portfolio, ideally within a practice environment.
* Strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation, particularly in relation to personal tax, inheritance tax, and capital gains tax.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues clearly to clients.
* Experience in mentoring or supervising junior staff would be beneficial.
* A proactive approach to identifying tax planning opportunities and providing added value to clients.
* A team player with a strong work ethic and a desire to contribute to the firm's success.
