Advanced Specialist Pharmacist
Band 8a
Job overview
Are you a pharmacist looking for a new challenge and passionate about leading clinical pharmacy services to medical patients?
This is a rare opportunity to work as an Advanced Specialist Pharmacist as part of the wider University Hospital of North Midlands Team, bringing unrivalled training, development, networking and practice research opportunities, whilst primarily working at our smaller (and very friendly) County Hospital site, situated next to the beautiful Staffordshire countryside.
You will contribute to the training and development of our dynamic team of junior pharmacists, as they complete their County Hospital rotations on medical wards. You will provide clinical pharmacy services to wards and lead on all aspects of medicines optimisation within the Medicine Speciality at County Hospital, supporting medical and nursing teams in the safe and effective use of medicines.
Main duties of the job
1. Providing a clinical pharmacy service to general medical wards at our Stafford (County Hospital) site, including ward round attendance to support medicines optimisation and deprescribing initiatives for the polypharmacy population.
2. Training, development and line management of junior and trainee pharmacists rotating through the Medicine Speciality at County Hospital.
3. Reviewing adverse incident reports and educating medical and nursing teams on pharmaceutical issues.
4. Reviewing expenditure reports and developing cost improvement initiatives.
