Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Experience with ASD, Autism, Personal Care & Complex Needs) Location: Birmingham - B29 - Selly Oak Start Date: September 2025 About the Role: We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our team in supporting a student with ASD, Autism, personal care needs, and complex needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that the student has the best opportunity to thrive in their education and development. This is a rewarding role that requires a patient, understanding, and proactive individual. Key Responsibilities: · Provide 1:1 support to a student with ASD, Autism, and complex needs within the classroom. · Assist with personal care needs, including toileting and feeding as required. · Help implement individualised learning plans to promote the student's academic, social, and emotional development. · Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and other professionals to ensure a tailored approach. · Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage the student's engagement in learning activities. · Assist with emotional regulation and support the student in managing any challenging behaviours. · Adapt learning resources and activities to meet the student's needs and abilities. Requirements: · Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with children with ASD, Autism, and complex needs. · Experience with personal care and supporting children with additional needs. · A compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to working with students. · Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. · Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies. · Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or SEN support (desirable). Desirable Skills: · Experience with PECs (Picture Exchange Communication System) or other communication tools. · Phonics (Letters and Sounds) Team Teach, Makaton SEMH · Knowledge of behaviour management techniques. · Understanding of sensory processing difficulties and strategies to support students with these needs.
