A rare opportunity has arisen to provide the statutory role in the management of serious and sex offenders in West Lothian. This is a chance for a skilled and motivated individual to take the lead role in all housing activity for the safe and responsible tenancy management of all serious/sex offenders in West Lothian
This activity involves primary responsibility for maintaining secure and accurate information on Registered Sex Offenders, ensuring all information is maintained in accordance with Data Protection and Government Protective Marking System
The postholder will be responsible for managing the delivery of appropriate and compliant Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA) process on behalf of housing in partnership with other MAPPA agencies. This officer is responsible for the secure storage of information on council databases in line with all required Data Protection, corporate and legislative guidance, and will ensure secure processes are developed and maintained. This post provides the link officer role for RSL partner enquiries relating to MAPPA and serious offender case management activity.
This officer will be required to work with initiative to respond to situations as they arise, will organise case conferences and will provide a trusted point of support and guidance to officers in other services on matters relating to Public Protection.
The postholder’s work will involve the day to day management of high-profile cases and their actions may be open to scrutiny at the highest level. Records and activity within the service is subject to MAPPA audit, and this role will prepare records and brief the appropriate officers to ensure all audit requirements are met fully.
This role will involve working across West Lothian, with a wider team of Homeless Support Managers and Tenancy Support Officers providing services in multiple locations including temporary accommodation, homeless units, hotels and those self-accommodating
The postholder is accountable to the Homeless Support Manager within Housing Need Service who has responsibility for resettlement and complex needs cases.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a driven and energetic individual with proven skills in managing complex and sensitive casework as part of a team. The post requires an individual a deep knowledge of MAPPA and NASSO policy and practice. You will have experience of homeless. Allocations and housing support/tenancy management, and will be skilled in working with vulnerable clientele. You must understand the demands of the role in relation to professional standards of conduct, confidentiality and sensitivity in managing cases to achieve appropriate solutions.
The post holder must have the ability to work on their own initiative on highly sensitive cases, liaising effectively with Police Scotland, Social Policy and Health services, and wider agencies managing offenders in order to achieve good outcomes and sustainable solutions in managing offenders.
