The Area Manager plays a key role supporting the nursery management team in delivering outstanding care and education for children and families and ensuring the nursery is an exceptional place to work where our team can be the best educators, based on our vision and values. We are looking for someone with expertise in not only early years and nursery leadership but also in depth knowledge of Hertfordshire and local authority procedures.

About you
1. You will be qualified in Early Years to level 3 or above with proven experience of leading a nursery setting with outstanding or good Ofsted results
2. You must be able to build meaningful relationships with all stakeholders, children, parents, team, central team colleagues, have excellent communication skills and maintain confidentiality
3. You must be able to communicate our team and brand values through excellent communication and teamwork
4. A real ‘can do’ attitude and self-motivation is essential – we need our team to love working together!
5. You must be willing and able to travel across our nursery settings and offices as needed
6. You must be eligible to work in the UK and obtain a satisfactory DBS
About the role
This is a diverse and exciting role that covers all aspects of nursery operations, key responsibilities include;
Nursery Operations
1. Visiting allocated nursery settings on a regular basis to monitor the day to day operations and success of the setting, and ensure statutory requirements and local authority requirements are being met
2. Being the first contact for the nursery management team on all matters relating to operations
3. Maintain up to date expertise in Early Years and share learnings and improvements across team
4. Advising on early years provision, children, safeguarding, parent complaints and team issues in a professional manner, in line with company procedures and values
5. Advocating the drive for improvement within the reflective practice cycle, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to
6. Reviewing and analysing KPI data, to include occupancy and management accounts to ensure the setting is meeting their targets
7. Reviewing full accident reports, confidential records, audits, non-conformances and survey results
8. Authorising purchasing and recruitment decisions when required in line with procedure
9. Conducting leaver meetings, and leading in disciplinary meetings
10. Attending Ofsted inspections
Team Development
1. Being a trusted manager to the nursery management team, building strong relationships with the team, and communicating the values
2. Coaching and mentoring the nursery management team to upskill their knowledge base and resolve challenges, in line with procedures
3. Performance management for the nursery management team, identifying training needs and supporting with skill development and CPD
4. Recruiting new nursery management team members, and deploying team in line with the business needs
5. Inducting and mentoring new nursery management team members
6. Leading on training for nursery management teams and future leaders
Operational Leadership
1. Leading nursery management team meetings
2. Reviewing and updating procedures to ensure they meet statutory requirements and current early years thinking
3. Working in collaboration with operational leads: People, Property and Commercial, Finance and Growth to ensure the nursery settings are receiving what they need to succeed
4. Live, and role model, our values, understand and champion our mission
5. Attending regular meetings and sharing information with the Nursery Operations Team and wider team on all matters relating to nursery operations
6. Thinking and planning ahead to anticipate future challenges and collaboratively resolve issues
7. Contributing to our Nursery Operations strategy based on business direction and needs
8. Working on specific projects/areas of the business and supporting implementation of initiatives, taking the lead where required and partnering with key internal and external stakeholders throughout.
