Salary: Offering up to £45,500 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Plus standby rota payments & overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

We are currently recruiting for an ICA (Instrumentation, Control & Automation) Technician, to be based out of our Mill Green Sewage Treatment Works Site in Hertfordshire. This is an exciting hands-on opportunity where you will assist in keeping the area pumping stations operational.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves into an already high-performing team, as well as being disciplined and having the desire to learn from those around them and a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times but very rewarding too.
On a day-to-day basis, you will receive your planned workload and respond to emergency alarms. You will be working as part of a team but may also be alone which highlights the importance of our high Health & Safety standards.
What you’ll be doing as an ICA (Instrumentation, Control & Automation) Technician:
* Carrying out planned maintenance (PPM) which includes some mandatory tickets and some reactive maintenance on defective equipment.
* Working in a multi-disciplinary team, alongside a range of operational teams such as systems, mechanical, and electrical technicians.
* Installing, modifying, and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards, and diagnosing and repairing faults in systems and plants. Proactively identifying and reporting follow-up work or areas for enhancement and delivering cost-effective improvements to assets and systems.
* Investigating plant failures and implementing subsequent repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible.
* Providing specialist technical advice where appropriate with up-to-date technical knowledge.
Base Location: Mill Green Sewage Treatment Works, AL9 5PE.
38 hours per week Monday-Friday. 7:30-15:36 plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional payment. All PPE, tools and vans will be provided.
What should you bring to the role?
* Experience with PLCs and SCADA systems and communication network systems, instrumentation including flow, level, pressure etc.
* Experience with variable speed drives (VSDs) and other starting methods for motors/pumps.
* Ideally, qualified to HNC level or otherwise will have City and Guilds Part 2 or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an instrumentation, control and automation discipline.
* Preferable to have an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification and 3-phase electrical knowledge or qualifications.
* Physical fitness and the ability to work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
* Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem and identify the best solution to resolve it the first time.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team.
* The ability to deliver exceptional service through an enthusiastic and positive approach, taking accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team.
