This is a fixed term contract, business support role, which involves implementing a new risk and internal control monitoring framework within Spectris Plc. This includes documenting the risks and controls established across the entire business, ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of those risks and controls, identifying deficiencies, recommending improvements and internal reporting. Core Responsibilities of the role are: Reporting to the Senior Risk and Assurance Manager duties include but are not limited to: Collaborate with a diverse array of first- and second-line risk management teams to lead on controls management for Spectris. Work with the process and control owners to perform walkthroughs of all risk and internal control documentation to help ensure that documentation is complete, properly supported, the key and compensating controls are in place as documented, and to verify that the controls address the relevant risks. Identifying any gaps within the existing control framework and work collaboratively with business and process owners to implement and monitor remediation efforts ensuring the effective implementation of corrective action. Support on the delivery of adequate and timely reporting on the internal control framework and control deficiencies to ensure appropriate communication, documentation, escalation to business partners, senior leadership and audit committee Assist with providing an understanding of risks and internal controls across the Group functions and business through training or documenting guidance where necessary. Support on the design and execution of a continuous testing programme for the effectiveness of the systems and controls in place within the business Support on the implementation of action plans to mitigate risks, address findings from audits and internal testing and track integration within the business Supporting risk management projects Candidate Specification Essential Criteria Higher level education qualification (HND, Degree or relevant professional qualification) Previous experience (at least two years) in a risk or internal audit role, or a role involved in the design and testing of internal controls Professional, proactive and highly motivated Strong analytical skills includes the ability to spot, assess and address risk, materiality and interdependencies and translate it into impact analysis for the financial reporting and recommendations for improvement Strong communication skills presenting internal control and risk matters in an understandable way across various forums and levels of the organization with the right level of detail. Creative and flexible, with ability to understand business constraints and requirements Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to collaborate well with stakeholders across the business. Preferred Criteria Professional Qualification in an Internal Audit or External Audit discipline Five years’ experience within an internal audit role or a role involved in the design and testing of internal controls in a commercial environment Experience of working within a risk or compliance environment within a commercial business
