The Role: PMLD Teacher We are looking for a compassionate, creative, and skilled PMLD Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will design and deliver highly personalized learning experiences that focus on communication, sensory exploration, and life skills, ensuring that every child reaches their full potential. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, sensory-rich lessons tailored to each student’s unique needs. Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to create a holistic learning experience. Utilize alternative communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS, and assistive technology. Foster a supportive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment where students feel valued and encouraged. Promote independence, confidence, and social interaction in daily activities. Maintain accurate student progress records and contribute to EHCP reviews. What We’re Looking For Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification. Experience working with students with PMLD or severe learning difficulties (SLD). Strong knowledge of differentiated teaching and alternative communication methods. Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for supporting students with complex needs. A team player with excellent communication skills who can collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children. Desirable Skills and Experience Training in Makaton, PECS, or assistive technology. Experience working in a specialist SEN setting. Knowledge of sensory integration and therapeutic interventions.
