Job overview
This post will develop, introduce, monitor, and assess systems for the safe, efficient, and timely provision of medicines management at ward level.
Objectives will be set between the post-holder, Chief Technician ET&D and MMT and Lead MMT Technician, in accordance with local and national requirements.
Work closely with ward pharmacists and support them by undertaking medication histories, assessing patients own drugs (PODs), counselling of new or changed medications and co-ordinating the supply of discharge medicines (including ward dispensing of To Take Away (TTA) medications, via satellite pharmacy, as required).
Support the co-ordination and workflow of the dispensary staff, in line with service requirements, to provide an efficient and enhanced customer-orientated service.
Participate in the supply of medicines to inpatients, outpatients, wards, and departments.
Act as a role model and support staff training and development by being an Educational / Practice Supervisor for internal and external accreditations (including, but not limited to apprenticeship qualifications).
The post holder may deputise for the Lead MMT Technician in their absence.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Education & professional Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Holds an NVQ Pharmacy Service Level 3 / with accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and the Practice of Pharmacy Technicians) or equivalent.
* Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician.
* Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification.
* Accredited medicines management qualifications (AIMMs or MOP) or working towards.
Desirable criteria
* Accreditation in Training Skills (ATS) qualification or working towards.
* Accredited Educational Supervisor or working towards.
* Accredited Practice Supervisor or working towards.
Experience
Essential criteria
* Portfolio demonstrating competence of previous and current pharmacy practice skills, knowledge and CPD.
* Relevant post qualification experience of hospital pharmacy.
* Previous experience of medicines management at ward level.
* Previous experience of delivering induction and competency-based training.
* Demonstrated ability to accurately complete complex routine and non-routine tasks as indicated in the job description.
* Experience of stock management.

* Previous experience of developing Standard Operating Procedures.
* Previous evaluated experience of recruitment and selection of staff.
