Overview: The Production Manager plays a vital role in overseeing daily production operations, ensuring a safe work environment, and meeting customer requirements across all three shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop strategic plans for the HPDC production department to align with customer and business needs, including scheduling for prototype runs, pre-production, and standard production.
2. Champion quality principles within the department, fostering a Zero Quality Spill mindset.
3. Schedule manpower effectively to meet production needs across all shifts.
4. Source production materials and consumables as required.
5. Build and lead a skilled, motivated team capable of delivering high-quality output and achieving departmental and divisional goals.
6. Collaborate with the Planning and Logistics team to ensure that plans and corrective actions are effectively implemented to safeguard customer supply.
7. Cultivate strong customer relationships with support departments.
8. Track, compile, and report on HPDC performance KPIs to all business levels.
9. Partner with the Training & Development team to enhance team skills through coaching and mentoring, establishing performance standards, conducting regular reviews, and monitoring progress.
10. Promote a 5S culture within the Business Unit.
11. Utilize the departmental training budget to address skill gaps.
12. Ensure compliance with current quality standards in all production processes.
13. Deliver quality parts on time to meet customer demands.
14. Lead the implementation of the group's world-class manufacturing systems, ensuring adherence and reflecting this in quarterly audits.
15. Assist the BU Manager with customer-facing responsibilities.
16. Adhere to all Operational Procedures and Policies outlined in the Employee Handbook, including Quality and Environment programs.
17. Embrace and promote the group's philosophies and Employee Charter.
18. Advocate for HSE policies throughout the department and instill a safety-first culture.
19. Facilitate Tier 3 daily meetings, setting agendas and supporting the Tier 4 management meetings.
Experience & Knowledge:
1. Degree/Diploma in Manufacturing or a related field, or equivalent experience.
2. Familiarity with tools and processes for producing complex HPDC thin-walled structural components.
3. Strong understanding of business management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and production coordination.
4. Experience in Tier 1 Automotive supply.
5. Previous operations leadership in automotive, engineering, or manufacturing.
6. Knowledge of Advanced Manufacturing techniques (e.g., Lean, Value Stream Mapping, CI, KANBAN).
7. Proven track record in people and performance management.
8. Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and coach team members.
9. Good mathematical skills with budget management experience.
10. Sound understanding of cost of quality, continuous improvement, and production planning.
11. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
12. Experience using KPIs to meet targets and utilizing data for decision-making in Safety, Quality, Timing, Motivation, and Environment (SQTME).
Desirable Qualifications:
1. IOSH Certification.
2. Six Sigma Certification.
3. Familiarity with problem-solving tools.
