Finance Transformation Systems Analyst

The Finance function is now embarking on a significant programme of transformation to achieve the vision, service and support needed by the business. The first phase of this includes the automation of our Purchase to Pay processes as well as the redesign of our chart of accounts, and development of phase 2 plans.
Working closely with Finance SMEs, the Finance Systems Support team, IT and business users, you will provide technical expertise to deliver the system components (both new tools and the reconfiguration of existing tools) of our Finance Transformation programme.
The primary focus will be the planning and implementation of:
* The automation of Purchase to Pay processes;
* Improvements to our Travel & Expenses tool SAP Concur
But The Role Will Also Support
* Data gathering as part of process management;
* The development of a new Chart of Accounts;
* The identification and evaluation of new tools to be implemented in the next phase of Finance Transformation
Key to success is an ability to collaborate across multiple teams and to ensure business requirements are met. You will bring your in-depth knowledge of Oracle, accounting and reporting, creative problem solving and energy to help us achieve our vision.
There are two posts available, both are full time, 35 hours per week, and fixed term until 31 May 2026.
Salary: £51,039 to £55,755 per annum (Grade 7)
This role is eligible to be offered on a blended working basis, meaning that as well as spending time working on campus you may spend some time working from another location, e.g. your home. Job Description
Key Duties
* Provide professional advice and guidance on Finance processes and procedures to internal and external customers that will have institution wide impacts, advising on the impact of Finance on strategic developments and plans.
* Take responsibility for resolving issues independently within Finance where they fall within set role objectives, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action and ensuring complex and conceptual issues and solutions are understood by the audience.
* Plan and deliver projects that have a university wide impact, managing the operation of project teams as needed, planning, organising and delegating work, monitoring progress and intervening as required.
* Investigate and analyze specific issues within Finance, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances within Finance technology.
* Ensure that the provision of Finance systems is delivered to the institution, proactively changing the delivery according to customer requirements, contributing to the development of institution wide standards within Finance & IT.
* Establish relationships with key contacts to ensure role objectives are met, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s Schools/Directorates and outside bodies as required.
* Create specific working groups from colleagues across the University to achieve Finance objectives.
* Develop and deliver training relating to Finance systems.
* Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the department.
* Instruct and guide other employees across the University regarding Finance systems.
Specialist Duties
* Provide technical advice on the evaluation and selection of new tools.
* Lead on prioritisation and planning of new tool implementation and system configuration changes from a technical perspective.
* Quickly build subject matter knowledge related to the Purchase to Pay processes, customer objectives, issues and limitations, and lead translation of business needs into functional requirements.
* Collaborate with Finance, SMEs, business users, IT and where relevant, external partners, to ensure smooth implementation.
* Support creation and delivery of training to ensure a smooth transition for users.
* Input to development of phase 2 Finance Transformation plans.

Essential Criteria
Qualifications and Education
* Postgraduate/Professional qualification/NVQ 5 or equivalent experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Substantial experience of working on development & implementation of Oracle EBS functionality and either SAP Concur or Science Warehouse (or both).
* Detailed knowledge of accounting and financial reporting.
* Proven experience of translating business requirements into functional requirements and deliverables.
* Evidence of leadership on end-to-end planning & implementation of system projects.
Customer Service, Communication and Team Working
* Ability to collaborate across multiple functions including SMEs, IT and external partners.
* Able to influence senior decisions within specialist discipline that have a strategic impact.
