On behalf of a thriving SME, based in Leeds City Centre Hays Accountancy and Finance are short-listing for a Management Accountant/ Bookkeeper to join their client during a rapid and consistent period of growth. The newly appointed Management Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth flow, control, and storage of documentation related to engineering, procurement, and construction activities.\n\nThey will maintain and manage technical and contractual documentation for multiple projects, ensuring compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and project time-lines.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nMaintaining Financial Records: Accurately record financial transactions using accounting software or manual ledgers. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, bill payments, and customer invoicing.\nBank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements with company records to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
Resolve any discrepancies or errors promptly.\nFinancial Reporting: Generate financial reports, such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Provide financial reports to management for decision-making and regulatory compliance.\nBudgeting and Forecasting: Assist with the preparation of company and project budgets and forecasts. Monitor financial performance against budgeted targets and identify variances for analysis.\nTax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations by preparing and filing accurate tax returns, including VAT returns, payroll taxes, and corporate taxes.
Collaborate with external tax advisors to address complex tax issues.\nPayroll Administration: Process payroll accurately and timely, including calculating employee salaries, wages, deductions, and benefits. Ensure compliance with employment laws related to payroll.\nInternal Controls: Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records. Conduct periodic audits and reviews of financial processes.\nFinancial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to assess company performance, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvement.
Support strategic decision-making and business planning initiatives.\nCommunication and Collaboration: Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to provide financial information and insights.\nContinuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the finance function. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, regulations, and technology.What They're Looking For:\n\nYou'll be a highly experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Management Accountant, ideally within the engineering, construction, or renewable energy sectors.\nFamiliarity with engineering drawings, project management documentation, and contract administration, is a distinct advantage.\nYou'll be system savvy, and have proficiency in document control systems such as Egnyte, SharePoint.
