You will work alongside the rest of our nursing team, which is made up of two other Practice Nurses, a Health Care Assistant and GP Assistant.

* Management of long-term conditions - Diabetes, COPD, HF, Asthma etc
* Childhood immunisations
* Travel immunisations
* Cervical cytology
* Infection control management
* Plus all other aspects of General Practice Nursing.

Brookmill Medical Centre is an established high achieving training practice, with a list size of over 9000. Led by a 5-person partnership which includes 4 GP partners and a Managing Partner. The Practice Manager is supported by a wide team of administrative staff and a Clinical Pharmacist.
Job responsibilities
JOB TITLE: PRACTICE NURSE
REPORTS TO: NURSE MANAGER/THE PARTNERS (Clinically)
HOURS: Up to 20 hours per week
Job Summary:
The Practice Nurse will work as part of the General Practice team providing General Medical Services to the patients of Brookmill Medical Centre.
Job Responsibilities:
* Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
* Cytology
* New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis
* Travel Clinic
* ECGs
* Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
* Hypertension Management
* Routine immunizations/Childhood immunisations
* Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
* Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
* Interest in Diabetes or Coronary Heart Disease and Contraception.
* Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
Other tasks will include:
* Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
* Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
* Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
* Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
* Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
* Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
* At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
* A duty to advise senior nurses of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
* Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
* On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
* Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse Recognised qualification
* Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council
* A demonstrable commitment to professional development

* Competent in basic nursing duties required for the post

* An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality
