What is great about the role?
Our Cam Fan service is a drop-in base for anyone who needs immediate support around Housing, debt and homelessness prevention. The service engages with regular individuals attending the service for support and walk-ins. The service is part funded by the health board and part funded by Housing Support Grant.
You will have the opportunity as a Scheme Support Officer to engage and interact with the people we support, deliver workshops relating to tenancy management and health & wellbeing, and arrange and carry out activities with the people we support to support them with their goals. Advising and supporting in a sensitive and practical manner and dealing with a crisis effectively and efficiently.
Your day will consist of:
* Engaging and interacting with the people we support
* Ensuring the building is secure including health & safety checks and maintaining an awareness of who is in the building
* Dealing with challenging behaviours
* Addressing any additional needs, the people we support may have
Our aim is to ensure we equip these individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to live independently. This is a challenging role and you will be faced with complex behaviours and needs, including alcohol misuse, mental health, substance misuse and anti-social and offending behaviour. You will work with a range of different personalities and behaviours so you will need to be able to adapt your approach to engage with a diverse clientele.

* Have good organisation, IT and record keeping skills
* Can work part of a team and on an individual basis
* Deal with difficult situations
* Have good listening skills
To be a great Support Worker, you need energy, enthusiasm, integrity and to treat people with dignity and respect. You need to be reliable because people are depending on you. You also need to be a great communicator, both verbally and in writing and have basic IT and numerical skills.
You don’t always need previous experience or qualifications. A good understanding of housing related support and welfare benefits, or awareness of issues faced by people at risk of homelessness would be useful in the role.
