Role Purpose To be responsible for the consistent planning and delivery of all events to the highest standards, in line with required standards and client specification, developing and leading a knowledgeable team that are confident to engage with organisers and delegates. Ensuring all areas are presented to the highest standards and all meetings and events exceed expectations, while seeking to maximise profitability in line with budget and agreed cost control measures. Main areas of responsibility Lead the C&E team, giving clear direction to all team members. To ensure staff are in the right place at the right time, identifying peak business periods to plan recruitment of new team members in line with the payroll budget. To efficiently schedule and control the working patterns of the core full time team. To train and coach team members to ensure high levels of staff retention and engagement. Ensure all staff are trained to the required standards in compliance with the company's Health and Safety Policy/Emergency Procedures to meet statutory obligatory requirements. Maintain regular and effective briefing and de-briefing sessions with your team. To ensure all aspects of conferencing and standards or presentation and service are maintained. To liaise with the C&E team during the day regarding any changes and to ensure effective communication with other departments where appropriate. Ensure all staff have clear directions and information, ensuring suitable supervision for function set ups, operations and post function. Establish effective and guest focused standards and procedures throughout the department, developing and improving them to meet guests demands. Attend all pre and post function meetings in liaison with the Sales team. To be flexible regarding working hours to handle any unexpected requirements. To perform employee performance reviews of the core team. To identify and report any maintenance requirements or potentially hazardous situations. To liaise with various suppliers to order consumables required for events and the day to day running of the business. To comply with all legal requirements in respect of health and safety and welfare of all members of staff and guests, including attending COSHH training and practising safe working habits.
