Children's Safeguarding Advisor (Part time)
Band 7
The Children's Safeguarding Advisor post is to work within the Children's safeguarding team for Bromley Healthcare. We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and innovative practitioner to work as a part-time safeguarding advisor. This will involve working collaboratively with many different health professionals and other agencies to ensure effective plans are in place to safeguard children and promote their welfare.
This will involve working across multi-agency statutory and non-statutory organisations to respond to local and national initiatives, requirements, and legislation. To provide evidence-based advice, support, supervision, training, and leadership to staff involved in the care of children and their families across Bromley Healthcare.
Main Duties of the Job
* To undertake the role and responsibilities of safeguarding children for Bromley Healthcare.
* To provide safeguarding supervision, consultation, professional advice, guidance, and training to staff.
* To develop constructive relationships with Multi-agency services and disciplines.
* To adhere to the NMC code of professional practice.
* To promote awareness of safeguarding and promote good professional practice across the organisation.
* To participate in complex case management at both single and multi-agency level.
* To engage in local, region-wide and national forums, as associated with safeguarding children.
* To ensure that the voice of the child and the promotion of anti-discrimination are incorporated into all work with children and young people.
Person Specification
Knowledge and Understanding
* Sound Knowledge of NHS safeguarding structure and multi-agency working.
* Experience of assessing risk and need for children.
* Able to challenge decisions and articulate rationale effectively.
* Understanding of the wider healthcare environment.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse specialist practitioner.
* Educated to Degree Level/equivalent.
* Minimum of 4 years experience of working in a community setting.
* Minimum of 2 years working in an area of vulnerability and diversity.
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to analyse very complex issues where material is conflicting.
* Ability to produce concise yet robust communications.
* Experience of assessing, managing risks and escalating concerns.
* Experience of being the Health representative at Multiagency meetings.
Information Technology
* Able to use EMIS and RIO systems.
* Able to use Excel.
* Able to use databases/Word.
