Description Job Description As UPS Commissioning Engineer, you will be required to work individually and as part of a team, leading in UPS project commissioning, specialist site testing, system fault finding and repairs, and providing high-level technical support at locations in the UK and Europe. You must be flexible as a UPS commissioning engineer since frequently working and staying away from home are pivotal to this role. Regulatory, Process and Health & Safety Excellence You will manage all activities respecting legal requirements defined by the ITC regulation and environmental requirements defined by EU regulations and local norms. You will be knowledgeable in current Health and Safety legislation to ensure our clients and our team's safety while carrying out site activities. Ensure all current Vertiv EHS processes are followed. Key Duties Undertake UPS project commissioning of new equipment installed primarily in the Southern region of the UK and occasionally in some European overseas locations. Conduct specialist on-site testing of new installations using power quality analysers, oscilloscopes, and load banks. This will include SAT, IST, and customer acceptance testing. Compile all associated technical reports and testing procedures for presentation to the client. Manage system/site-specific documentation, e.g. equipment parameters, I/O function setup, system configurations, etc. Equipment status and project activity summary reports to be completed regularly and presented to the project team / Technical Managers. Foster a collaborative relationship with Vertiv's central technical support and R&D teams to provide real-time product feedback for continuous improvement. Cooperate with the local Delivery Organization to organise and manage field site visits, using the required technical competency to resolve issues of commercial importance. Contribute to generating preliminary and final Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports for critical events or Key Accounts. Manage autonomously the RCAR process for local or minor events. Use information collected in the field to help prepare and distribute technical information that the company needs to share with the field through the release of a dedicated technical document such as the Field Change Notice (FCN). Additional Responsibilities Become proficient in the operation of the product ranges manufactured by Vertiv. Travel will be required both in the UK and overseas, with varying durations away from home. When not commissioning, you will maintain UPS under contract and attend breakdowns and repairs if necessary. Identify potential opportunities for equipment sales, maintenance contracts, and replacement UPS, batteries, and capacitors. Maintain a consistent and coherent understanding of corporate and departmental policy and apply it to everyday performance and decision-making. What Will Make You Successful? HNC/HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent. 10 years in the Electrical / Electronic Industry. 5 Years in a UPS field operations or customer interfacing role. Being able to communicate technical information and read electrical circuit diagrams effectively. Demonstrating professionalism, cooperation, courtesy, and assertiveness in all stakeholder interactions, both internally and externally. The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Being able to effectively plan, set priorities, organise, and coordinate work activities with others. Being level-headed in stressful situations to resolve conflict and meet deadlines. Strong self-motivation and a results-driven approach. Excellent written and verbal English language. Holding a full, clean UK driving license What Vertiv Offers You?
