Salary: UH9 £57,422pa with potential to progress to £68,529pa by annual increments
Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our offices between Christmas and New Year
Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield
The Adult Nursing Team in the Department of Nursing Health and Wellbeing at the University of Hertfordshire, is a large and vibrant team of academics and support staff, which provides pre and post registration education and training to Nurses and Advanced Clinical Practitioners. The team is responsible for delivery on the Nursing Associate programme, a large pre-registration BSc (Hons) and MSc Nursing programme, MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and a wide range of CPD. This is an exciting opportunity to lead this team in the day to day running of the provision, the leadership and management of academic staff, and to significantly input into the future direction of the team and the Department.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Professional Lead Adult Nursing will lead a large Adult Nursing Lecturing Team in all aspects of Academic Development of Adult Nursing provision in the School. As a professional lead you will develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders including Health Education England, Integrated Care Services, Clinical Commissioning Groups and Training Hubs.
The post involves working with Senior academics in the School to ensure that NHS contractual requirements including contract schedules are adhered to in managing and delivering all aspects of NHS commissioned programmes.
You will assume responsibility for staff issues within the Adult Nursing Lecturing Team to include people management, workload allocation, appointment, probation, appraisal, development, promotion and progression, and review of performance according to policies and procedures agreed by the University.
You will work with the Head of Department in the allocation of resources, and the management of the budget within the team and advise and will exploit and enhance synergies between research and teaching in the Adult Nursing Lecturing Team.
You will lead curriculum development and delivery within the field and will contribute to continuing professional development, delivery of learning, teaching (and related activities), ensuring that academic quality and student success are cornerstones of this activity.
Skill and experience required
The Adult Nursing Team is one of 5 teams comprising the Department and you will be a vital part of the Senior Management Team of the Department. You will have experience of professional practice in the field of Adult Nursing and have proven experience of teaching, learning and assessment.You will have some experience in leadership and management and and a keen interest in the development and leadership of individual staff members, enabling them to deliver high quality education and training to our practice partners and the community. You will have excellent communication skills and a commitment to teamworking and the ability to work across various teams and groups. You will have experience of partnership working with key stakeholders such as NHS and private and voluntary sector partners and service users and carers.
Qualifications required
Current live registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
Masters Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent L7 qualification
A recognised teaching qualification
Fellowship of Advance HE
