Job Description:
The Quantity Surveyor will manage all commercial activities from tender through to completion of façade/roofing schemes from £2-£10M. The role involves working closely with Project Managers to deliver schemes and report to the Commercial Director on job statuses.
As a Quantity Surveyor the successful candidate will take full commercial control of live schemes, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, tender proposals, and employer requirements. This role requires strong time management, risk management, and the ability to work closely with various teams and stakeholders. Take ownership of tenders from receipt to submission and securing the project.
Review enquiry documents to understand risks and opportunities.
Take full commercial control of live schemes, understanding employer requirements, tender proposals, and contractual obligations.
Support operational teams, including Project Managers and Site Managers, in delivering projects.
Manage supply chains, ensuring sub-contract packages are commercially vetted.
Identify and price variations, submit to clients, and secure agreements.
Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act and insurance requirements.
Liaise regularly with clients and report accurately to the Commercial Manager.
Review contracts and collateral warranties, liaising with clients for agreements.
Attend client pre-construction/start meetings and manage project risks and opportunities.
Handle sub-contract package appraisals, payment approvals, and raising/issuing orders.
Collaborate with the Finance Department on valuation, invoicing, and commercial matters.
Produce and maintain monthly CVRs and assist in implementing internal KPIs and business goals Experience & Skills Required
At least 4 years + of transferrable experience in Quantity Surveying
Strong technical knowledge of Construction (façades, roofing, cladding, and curtain walling knowledge would be ideal but not essential.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office.
Excellent communication, analytical, and numerical skills.
Understanding of Fire Safety regulations, including the Building Safety Act. Desirable Qualifications
Level 3 NVQ in Construction Contracting Operations.
Familiarity with JCT contracts and project risk management.
Experience with Microsoft Project and Bluebeam Revu software.
