Are you a leader in local flood risk management? Are you looking for a prominent role delivering high profile projects within an exciting environmental company?
Do you have a track record of successfully delivering local flood risk management projects and working with Risk Management Authorities? Are you an experienced Project Manager or Project Director? Do you enjoy liaising with important clients and developing relationships with new ones? If so, we are looking for someone like you to lead our established local flood risk management team based at our Skipton office.
JBA Consulting are proud to support RMAs with the management of local flood risk across areas of the UK including local authorities in England. We provide strategic, catchment and site-specific flood and water management advice to Local Authorities, the Environment Agency, central government and public sector clients. The work we do is varied and includes supporting many of the 25 Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme (FCRIP) Projects, Strategic Flood Risk Assessments (SFRAs), Property Flood Resilience (PFR) surveys, Local Flood Risk Management Strategies and Flood Investigations.
The successful candidate will have an integral role in shaping flood risk management and flood resilience services across the business, supporting the delivery of local flood risk-related projects and leading an experienced team in the Broughton Park office.
Location: The post will be based in our head office in Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 3FD. JBA supports agile working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work.
Qualifications and Experience
Key competencies required for the role:
You will have an environmental or physical science related qualification, degree or equivalent.
Chartered status (ICE, CIWEM) is important to JBA and valued by our clients therefore applicants should be chartered or show a desire to work towards becoming chartered. We will support you through our professional mentoring programming to gain chartership if required.
Effective and proven communication skills are essential for this position. We are looking for a hardworking professional who is empathetic towards communities and individuals who have suffered the misery of flooding and demonstrates a desire to help. You will have the ability to work on your own or as part of a team, have experience of problem solving and communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with colleagues, clients and members of the public.
An understanding of local flood risk management activities including governance and policy is required to support this role. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate awareness of how flood risk is managed locally associated roles and responsibilities.
Effective report writing and time management skills are essential.
The successful candidate will have the following required and desirable knowledge and experience:

3. Report writing and quality assurance
4. Delivery of local flood risk management schemes and studies
5. Knowledge of local flood risk management roles and responsibilities
6. End-to-end project leadership, including contract management and tender preparation.
7. A valid UK driving licence is required.
8. Experience of applying local policy and strategy
9. Local development and planning
10. Property Flood Resilience
11. Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
