This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly team to work as a Learning Development Advisor. You will be supporting students across the University. The Academic Skills Team comprises Learning Development Advisors and Academic Skills Tutors as part of the Strategic Teaching and Learning Team. We focus on providing a best-in-class student learning experience institutionally by delivering excellent Academic Skills support, Learning Technology support and strategic projects to enhance teaching and learning and the student experience.
You will support students in the understanding and application of a broad range of academic skills including numeracy, referencing, academic writing, presentation skills, academic integrity, note-making, developing good study habits (active listening, reflection, time management, etc.) and planning assessments at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will specifically focus on delivering Numeracy and Academic English support. The role includes development and delivery of a range of taught classroom sessions, online resources, and one-to-one coaching tutorials.
You will be educated to degree level or have significant equivalent work experience in either teaching/training and hold a Level 3 or above qualification in Maths.
You will ideally have experience of delivering numeracy and study skills to home and international students across a variety of different academic disciplines. You will need excellent digital literacy skills and a clear passion to engender these in our students. You should be self-motivated, positive, and organised with a commitment to the delivery of blended learning. You will contribute towards the practice of continuous improvement through collaboration, professional development, and sharing of best practice.
You will contribute to courses at undergraduate level and contribute where appropriate to our postgraduate programmes.
We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties).
