Role Overview:
Teaching Personnel is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Computing Teacher to join an esteemed secondary school in Reddish, Stockport. This full-time maternity cover role, starting in January, provides an exciting opportunity to deliver engaging Computing lessons within a supportive environment renowned for its commitment to high-quality education.
Key Responsibilities:
* Curriculum Delivery: Teach Computing across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering foundational programming, computational thinking, data representation, and cybersecurity in alignment with the national curriculum.
* Lesson Planning: Design structured, hands-on lessons that build technical skills and foster problem-solving abilities. Differentiate instruction to accommodate a range of learning styles and abilities.
* Practical Coding Skills: Guide students through coding languages such as Python, HTML, and JavaScript, fostering confidence in software development and logical reasoning.
* Project-Based Learning: Implement project-based learning techniques to encourage collaboration, creativity, and real-world application of computing skills.
* Assessment and Feedback: Conduct regular assessments to track student progress, and provide detailed, constructive feedback to support ongoing development.
* Exam Preparation: Support Key Stage 4 students as they prepare for their GCSE Computing exams, assisting with coursework and revision strategies to maximize achievement.
* Classroom Management: Create a positive, focused classroom environment that supports both independent work and teamwork, promoting respect and curiosity.
* Extra-Curricular Involvement: Encourage student involvement in extra-curricular activities such as coding clubs, technology competitions, or school tech projects to further enhance computing skills.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the Computing department to align curriculum goals, share resources, and engage in collective planning. Participate in professional development opportunities within the school.
* Communication with Parents: Keep parents informed about their child’s progress, and provide guidance on how to support learning outside the classroom.
Ideal Candidate:
* Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in Computing, Computer Science, or a related field.
* Experience: Experience teaching computing or ICT at the secondary level, with a strong understanding of the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum and assessment frameworks.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in coding languages, database management, and familiarity with current software and hardware trends in education.
