Solicitor - Commercial Contracts How you'll make a difference As an experienced solicitor, working the Legal Services Team you will support all of the Council’s service delivery areas by providing commercial legal advice and support with particular emphasis on commercial contract work. What will you be doing You will be working with colleagues across Legal Services, you will provide legal advice and support to the Council on all aspects of commercial contract work, (advising, negotiating, drafting) including: construction contracts (JCT & NEC) subsidy control, frameworks and procurement (including the Public Contract Regulations) contractual disputes Working as part of the Legal Services Team you will provide expert and wide-ranging commercial support on a variety of major corporate and strategic projects, in such diverse practice areas as Information Technology, companies, finance, waste, social care, education and health. What we need from you You will be a qualified solicitor with relevant professional experience Have a sound understanding of contract law and procedure; ideally you will also have a broad understanding of Commercial Contracts, Procurement law (including Subsidy Control) and the Public Contracts Regulations. Have experience of managing a relevant caseload Be adept at taking responsibility for developing sound legal solutions and delivering outcomes Able to deliver work within tight timescales Enjoy working as part of a team and achieving the best possible outcomes for our Client Teams Able to build and maintain positive working arrangements with colleagues, our Client Teams and all other relevant stakeholders Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective IT skills.
