Smile Education are recruiting for an SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a Secondary SEN school in central Birmingham. The school is rated ‘good’ in their latest Ofsted inspection and has a strong and welcoming atmosphere within the staff team.
The SEN Teaching Assistant role would be working full-time within the classroom supporting the class teacher with a small group of students, working Monday to Friday 8:30 to 3:30.
The Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:
* Have a sole focus on working in small groups.
* Develop and concentrate on building a relationship with the child, staff, and family members.
* Constant and consistent communication with the class teacher regarding progress and potential methods of work.
* Create a secure and positive environment for the child to learn and feel comfortable.
To apply for this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need:
* An up-to-date DBS on the update service or dated within the last 12 months.
* A teaching assistant qualification or health and social care (level 2 or 3); previous support workers or behaviour mentors are encouraged to apply.
* Experience working with SEN children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
* Experience working with Primary school children.
* At least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years of work history.
