Vaccination and Immunisation Coordinator
The post holder will be a member of the Immunisation team and work alongside the Immunisation Team Leader providing professional support and leadership to team members. The role combines both managerial and clinical elements; you will provide day-to-day management for the immunisation team whilst supporting the delivery of the national childhood immunisation programme across the Mersey Care Footprint. You will also provide expert advice to the wider 0 - 19 children's nursing teams in addition to practice nurses, parents, carers, and children and young people advising about immunisations.
Main duties of the job
Operational management of the Immunisation team including personal development reviews, supervision, assist with recruitment, selection, induction and retention of staff. You will be involved in education and clinical practice development, including providing training to Mersey Care Staff and be involved in audit and policy reviews as required. You will be responsible for the organisation, smooth running and administration of the nurse-led immunisation sessions across the wide variety of venues that are utilised. You will also be active in the follow-up of non-immunised children/defaulters; providing information, advice and updating data as required, liaising closely with relevant health professionals, and making appropriate arrangements or referrals. To take the lead on immunisation training courses, support competency building of new immunisers and to act as an expert resource for health professionals and parents. Assist with any local & national immunisation campaigns including outbreaks.

* Be responsible for the clinical assessment of children requiring immunisation which includes planning, administration, education and offering appropriate support and guidance to parents/carers.
* Coordinate the ordering of vaccines, equipment and their safe storage by support staff, ensuring emergency equipment/drugs are in date and easily accessible.
* Liaise with GPs to obtain accurate immunisation histories from their records, to support planning and ensure accurate and up-to-date patient records.
* Be a resource providing professional expert advice regarding immunisations to peers, colleagues, GPs, parents and carers.
* Seek further specialist advice and act upon if appropriate or to signpost as required.
* Be competent and confident in offering a nurse-led immunisation service.
* Maintain competency in emergency treatment (faints/anaphylaxis) and ensure access to emergency equipment.
* Participate in individual and group supervision.
* Monitor record keeping within the team and inform the team leader of any concerns or incidents.
* Support the training and development of team members who need to improve on the level of patient care.
* Support the implementation of any initiatives to improve quality of care within the clinical governance.
* Participate in patient satisfaction reporting to improve patient care.

Qualifications
* Registered Professional.
