The Just Recruitment Group Ltd is currently recruiting for a Product Inspection Engineer for an automotive manufacturer based in Gillingham, Kent. All candidates should make sure to read the following job description and information carefully before applying.
The Product Inspection function provides measurement expertise to support key engineering activities from product performance validation to new product development. The product inspection engineer will use a wide range of state-of-the-art measurement technologies and facilities to support the development of cutting-edge ICE technology towards achieving carbon-free goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out product inspection activities according to design specifications.
2. Produce detailed inspection reports and communicate technical information effectively with key stakeholders.
3. Support inspection method and measurement process development.
4. Collaborate with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
5. Ensure requirements, specifications, and procedures are well defined and documented.
6. Contribute to continuous quality improvement.
7. Equipment calibration and maintenance.
8. Ensure EH&S and Quality Management System conformance (IATF 16949).
Skills
Mandatory
1. Good fundamental knowledge of dimensional metrology and precision engineering.
2. Previous experience of using microscopes, contact and optical 3D measurement systems.
3. Be a team player.
4. Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
6. Excellent attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills.
7. To be a self-starter, self-motivated, and willingness to learn new skills.
8. Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines when required.
9. Good understanding of 5S and workplace organization.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of diesel common rail fuel injection systems, test environments, and diesel engines.
2. Practical knowledge of surface measurement and standards.
3. Experience of writing measurement programmes (preferably Zygo and Taylor Hobson surface measurement instruments).
4. Experience of using 3D metrology software, preferably Polyworks.
5. Knowledge of traceability, measurement uncertainty & Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
Qualifications/Educational/Experience
Mandatory
1. Degree in appropriate engineering discipline + minimum of 2 years' experience in relevant field.
Desirable
1. Master's degree in metrology or precision engineering discipline.
