Do you have a passion for teaching English and inspiring young minds?
Are you ready to join a dynamic team and make a real difference in students' lives?
If so, Queen Katharine Academy wants you!
Your Role:
As an English Teacher at Queen Katharine Academy, you will deliver engaging lessons that follow the curriculum and help students achieve their full potential. You will collaborate with colleagues to develop teaching programmes and assessments, maintain positive behaviour and discipline, and engage with parents and external bodies to support students. Additionally, you will participate in professional development, lead extra-curricular activities, and mentor a tutor group, monitoring their social and academic progress.
About Us:
The English team at QKA is an award-winning department with an ambitious and aspiring team. The team has been awarded the TES English Team of the Year 2021 award for their delivery of a ‘multi-layered approach in bringing texts to life for students, as well as the uniqueness of the curriculum and the ways in which diversity in literature is strongly embedded’ (TES Judges). The team was also shortlisted for the Bernice McCabe Award and was highly commended by the PTI for their work on the growth in their KS5 provision and social mobility.
The department is well-resourced and led by fantastic practitioners, and we are looking to appoint a colleague who shares their enthusiasm and unwavering determination to help every student enjoy, achieve, and progress in English from KS3 through to KS5. In Sixth Form, A Level English Language and A Level English Literature are delivered, and in both subjects, students make well above average progress given their starting points.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a school within one of the well-regarded Trusts in the eastern region. The school has a great history of success and a bright and exciting future, and we are looking for an ambitious and dynamic teacher to steer it through the next stage of its development. Collaboration, educational research, and professional development are at the core of how the schools within Thomas Deacon Education Trust work together. With a clear focus on teaching at all levels, the Trust is well-placed to provide great opportunities to promote Thomas Deacon Academy as a leading school, and you will be given effective support to develop you personally as an outstanding teacher.
