We are looking to strengthen our Construction team with a Commissioning & Handover Manager, Site & Office based within the United Utilities Region.
You will report directly to the Project Director and will deliver commissioning planning and commissioning activities for Major Projects within the region (initially Oswestry WTW). You will also provide ownership of the commissioning process through all stages of a project lifecycle and achieving efficiencies associated with handover.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Resource management within the appointed project, working with Project Managers.
2. Day to day management and coordination of all commissioning and commissioning planning activities, including planning for process commissioning and testing, within that Major Project.
3. Carry out commissioning activities, personally on occasion.
4. Effective engagement with client project management and operational staff to:
1. Obtain buy-in to proposed commissioning plan.
2. Ensure the effective integration of assets into the existing works without detriment and risk to service level agreements.
3. Achieve fast and effective handovers (including the timely delivery of all commissioning documentation, training, etc.).
1. Develop and operate an optimised interface with the engineering team to ensure “design for commissioning”.
2. Prepare training plans, organize specialist training by equipment suppliers and, where appropriate, personally deliver training.
3. Facilitate feedback of improvement information from commissioning.
4. Encourage and manage off-site testing and pre-commissioning activities by suppliers or others.
5. Ensure Commissioning is carried out safely in accordance with regulations and procedures.
6. Ensure all necessary Commissioning documentation is produced in a timely manner and co-operate with Technical Documentation teams to ensure timely delivery of O&M manuals.
7. Drive efficiencies and operate tight change control procedures.
8. Monitor, measure and report on performance and drive continuous improvement.
9. Working with Regional Managers and MWH Head of Commissioning, develop and improve commissioning processes and systems.
10. Ensure your own continuous professional development by participating in external networking/conferences/associations/groups, to stay current on industry changes and innovations.
11. Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback.
12. Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.
13. In all internal and external contact, present a professional and positive image of the department and MWH Treatment as well as maintaining mutually constructive, positive and beneficial relationships.
14. Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality.
Competencies: Organisation and administration, People skills, Communication – written and verbal.
Essential: Relevant degree (electrical, mechanical or process) or other qualification, Site experience in commissioning process projects, preferably in water industry, Mobility within the specified Region.
Desirable: Experience of managing commissioning teams, Mobility around the UK on occasion, Electrical SAP qualification.
