Senior Estimator – Main Contractor – Heritage and Restoration Our client, a leading restoration and conservation specialist operating across London and the South East is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator. Renowned for working on some of the UK’s most iconic and historically significant buildings, this company specialises in Grade-listed properties, scheduled monuments, World Heritage Sites, parochial churches, and country estates. Senior Estimator Role Overview As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, managing tender submissions, and securing profitable projects. This role requires strategic thinking, the ability to manage the full estimating process, and strong leadership skills to support junior estimators and project teams. Key Responsibilities Manage accurate records of tender and contract documents. Prepare detailed bills of quantities and work schedules for precise pricing. Compile tender comparisons and confidently present tenders at settlement meetings. Advise on risk and value engineering strategies. Work closely with supply chains to secure competitive tenders. Maintain and update historical tender data, average rates, and supply chain information. Build and sustain strong relationships with consultants and clients. Ensure efficient project delivery in collaboration with Project Managers. Lead the preparation of cost estimates, considering materials, labour, equipment, and project-related expenses. Review project plans and specifications to ensure full compliance with project requirements. Prepare comprehensive bid packages, cost reports, and supporting documentation. Evaluate subcontractor bids, ensuring alignment with project goals and budget constraints. Update cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle to reflect any changes. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior estimators, reviewing their work and offering best practice guidance. Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and client presentations to ensure accurate estimates. Work closely with procurement, operations, and finance teams to align estimates with project execution plans. What We Are Looking For Bachelor's degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 5 years of construction estimating experience, particularly within the heritage and restoration sector. Proficiency in estimating software and construction management tools. Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. Extensive knowledge of construction methods, materials, building regulations, and industry standards. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to present information clearly to clients, stakeholders, and team members. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Proven experience in Historic, Listed Building, Graded Building, Building Restoration, Heritage, Conservation, Stonework, or Brickwork Projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong organisational skills. Full UK driving licence required. What’s in it for You?
