We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team in the North West. The Role:
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing and controlling all commercial aspects of the projects, from tendering through to delivery. You will also be responsible for developing and executing commercial strategies that align with the company’s objectives. The role is based in on the outskirts of Warrington, with travel to customer offices and project sites as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Tendering and Project Accounting:
* Manage the tendering process and oversee commercial administration.
* Conduct a commercial and contractual review of tenders, proposing amendments and negotiating terms to mitigate risks.
* Administer commercial and contract aspects throughout the project.
Reporting:
* Conduct monthly reviews of contract results and performance.
* Manage cost-to-complete and CVRs on selected projects.
Valuation and Cash Collection:
* Ensure timely submission of monthly claims and effective credit control.
* Prepare claims, negotiate final accounts, and ensure settlements are reached.
Improvement and Governance:
* Develop commercial, project accounting, and credit control systems.
* Drive continuous improvement within the team.
General:
* Maintain quality assurance, administration, and accreditations.
Key Measures & Targets:
* Tendering success rate (win/loss %), margin projections, and backlog sales.
* Cash collection/days sales outstanding (DSO), cash in bank.
* Effective contract administration, margin management, and risk mitigation.
Person Specification:
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
Essential:
* Degree qualified or equivalent, with experience in a similar role.
* Customer-focused with strong problem-solving skills.
* Strong knowledge of contractual terms and conditions.
* Excellent IT skills and proficiency with relevant software.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
* Ability to prioritize a busy workload and meet deadlines.
Desirable:
* Membership with RICS or another relevant professional body, or actively working towards this qualification.
