This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Doctor in Geriatric medicine to join our active and growing team here at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. The successful candidate will be part of an enthusiastic and forward-thinking team, driving forward service improvements.
The purpose of the role is to co-ordinate high quality person-centred care for the patients on the ward, ensuring that all patients admitted have a diagnosis and treatment plan, and receive a daily medical review. The post holder will work closely with the medical team and wider multidisciplinary clinical team to deliver excellent patient care and developments and improvements to service provision.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate should have an interest in Geriatric Medicine with relevant experience, and be registered and licensed with the General Medical Council. This post provides an ideal opportunity to build on that experience. Although this is not a training post the post holder will be able to access education sessions and supervision within the hospital to support their professional development.

Qualifications
Essential
* Entry on GMC Specialist Register in geriatric medicine or eligibility for specialist registration in geriatric Medicine within 6 months from the time of the interview.
* PACES.
* Has a thorough knowledge and understanding of Good Medical Practice from the GMC and meets its requirements.
Desirable
* Valid ALS or equivalent.
Experience
Essential
* Broad knowledge and experience of Geriatric Medicine and UK Acute Medicine and Ambulatory Care in UK. Evidence of personal practice in all areas described by the RCP curriculum.
* Understanding of principles of clinical governance. Ability to demonstrate personal continuing personal development.
* Experience of guideline appraisal.
* Participation in relevant audits.
