Description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Finance Business Partner to join our team. The Finance Business Partner is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end finance operations, financial forecasting, management reporting, and strategic financial planning. This role involves enhancing financial procedures and controls, supporting company growth initiatives, and managing the finance team. The Finance Business Partner will also handle ad-hoc projects and requests as they arise, ensuring the company's financial health and compliance with all regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting
* Prepare monthly management accounts and board reports.
* Present financial figures and findings at monthly Board meetings.
* Prepare and continually review forecast reports.
* Meet monthly with department teams to ensure accurate forecasting.
* Review monthly accruals, prepayments, and similar accounting entries.
* Develop and implement KPI reporting.
Compliance and Regulatory Responsibilities
* Prepare quarterly VAT returns and review before submission.
* Ensure compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements.
* Prepare year-end accounts and reconciliations for external accountants.
* Act as the main point of contact with external accountants.
Budgeting, Forecasting, Monitoring, and Strategic Planning
* Prepare monthly payroll reports and coordinate with external payroll providers.
* Set up payroll payments and ensure accuracy.
* Set annual budgets and conduct monthly reviews to ensure alignment with financial goals.
* Develop and implement financial strategies to support company growth.
* Conduct financial analysis to identify risks and propose solutions.
* Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices and financial controls.
* Oversee the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.
* Regularly review financial performance and provide insights to senior management.
Risk Management
* Identify Financial Risks: Proactively identify potential financial risks, including market volatility, liquidity risks, and operational risks.
* Develop Mitigation Strategies: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks, ensuring the company's financial stability and integrity.
* Regular Risk Assessments: Conduct regular and comprehensive risk assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of current risk management strategies and identify new potential risks.
* Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
* Compliance Monitoring: Ensure continuous compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards, updating policies as necessary to reflect changes in the regulatory environment.
* Insurance Management: Manage the company's insurance policies, ensuring adequate coverage against potential risks and reviewing policies annually for cost-effectiveness and coverage adequacy.
* Crisis Management Planning: Develop and maintain a crisis management plan to ensure business continuity in the event of unforeseen disruptions.
* Reporting and Communication: Prepare and present risk management reports to senior management and the board, communicating key risks and the effectiveness of mitigation strategies.
* Training and Awareness: Conduct regular training sessions for staff to raise awareness of risk management policies and procedures, fostering a culture of risk awareness within the organization.
Team Leadership and Development
* Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
* Delegate tasks effectively and ensure the finance team meets its objectives.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
* Explore and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes.
Ad-Hoc Projects
* Handle ad-hoc financial projects and requests as they arise.
* Support company initiatives with financial expertise and insights.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Skills
* Minimum of 5 years in a similar role, preferably in a growing company.
* Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) preferred.
* Previous experience managing a finance team.
* Ability to delegate and manage the work of others.
* Strong technical accounting knowledge.
* Excellent Excel skills, including formulas and modelling.
* Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR).
* Proficiency in producing management accounts and financial analysis.
* Good knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Xero).
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to adapt quickly to accommodate urgent requests.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
