The Junior Commercial Lawyer/Paralegal plays a key role in the Legal and Innovation and Commercialisation Office (ICO) Departments. This role requires experience in commercial law and includes providing advice to the scientific research community at Rothamsted. Working to tight deadlines, paying attention to detail, effective time-management and dealing with a large volume of matters will be key to success.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of cross-border commercial and research contracts
Review redlines, formulate legal responses and conduct negotiations with counterparties within a tight time-frame
Communicate advice clearly on a variety of contract and other legal issues
Provide assistance within the Legal Department for all matters
Assist with management and development of clause language and templates
Educate stakeholders on sound legal practices and new developments impacting the business
Liaise with appropriate departments to ensure financial aspects of contracts are in compliance with Institute Policies and Procedures
Review and interpret pending or new legislation or regulatory rules impacting the business
