To continue our growth, we’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to lead our Solar PV sales and expand into other energy efficiency technologies.
Job Purpose:
As the Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in driving the company’s sales strategy, particularly focusing on Solar PV & Battery storage solutions. You will identify, engage, and win new clients and work collaboratively with the marketing and energy consultancy teams to deliver tailored solutions.
This position requires a proven track record in Solar PV sales, with annual sales achievements of £1.5 to £2 million or more. You will be trained on the other technologies we offer, including energy monitoring, consultancy, and renewable energy solutions, to further expand your expertise and impact.
Role & Responsibilities:
Business Development & Sales:
* Develop and execute a strategic plan to build a robust sales pipeline for Solar PV & Battery storage solutions.
* Identify and engage new clients, particularly those with high energy spends and an interest in reducing costs and carbon emissions.
* Lead the sales lifecycle, including prospecting, qualifying leads, preparing proposals, and closing contracts.
* Build strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
* Achieve and exceed revenue targets, driving £1 to £2 million in Solar PV sales annually.
Client Engagement & Solutions:
* Work closely with the energy consultancy team to understand client needs and develop tailored Solar PV & Battery storage solutions.
* Present proposals that clearly outline cost savings, ROI, and carbon reduction benefits.
* Onboard new clients effectively, ensuring seamless collaboration with project management and technical teams.
Marketing Collaboration:
* Collaborate with the marketing team to design and implement targeted campaigns, support lead generation, and create impactful sales materials.
* Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
Strategic Development:
* Provide insights on market trends, client needs, and competitive activity to refine the company’s offerings and strategies.
* Contribute to the development of innovative energy-saving technologies and solutions based on client feedback.
Key Requirements:
* Experience:
* Proven track record of Solar PV sales, delivering £1.5 to £2 million in annual sales.
* Minimum 2 years of experience selling energy reduction solutions, such as Solar PV, energy monitoring, renewables, or consultancy services.
* Demonstrable success in securing new business deals worth £1.5m+ per annum.
* Strong proposal writing and presentation skills.
* Knowledge:
* Deep understanding of Solar PV systems, including design, ROI calculations, and market trends.
* Familiarity with energy and carbon markets, as well as energy efficiency technologies.
* Skills & Competencies:
* Self-motivated and results-driven, with a passion for achieving and exceeding targets.
* Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* Strong analytical abilities with a commercially astute mindset.
* IT literate, with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CRM systems.
* Other Requirements:
* Capable of UK-wide travel to meet clients and attend industry events.
* Ethical, trustworthy, and committed to delivering exceptional customer service.
Desirable Qualities:
* Experience working within an SME & Large organisations.
* Familiarity with other energy efficiency solutions beyond Solar PV.
* Innovative thinker with a proven ability to develop creative sales strategies.
