Job Title: Assistant Site Manager Location: North West UK based Reports to: Site Manager Salary: Approx. £35,000 (including car allowance, flexible depending on experience) Type: Full-time, Permanent Company Overview: Our client is a market-leading commercial interior design and fit-out company, recognized for creating innovative and functional workspaces. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Site Manager to join our client's team, supporting the delivery of high-quality interior fit-out projects across the UK. Job Purpose: The Assistant Site Manager will support senior Site Managers in the daily operations of construction and interior fit-out projects. The role is ideal for candidates with construction experience or those who are looking to build their career in site management, including recent graduates from construction-related degrees. Key Responsibilities: Support to Senior Site Managers: Assist more senior Site Managers with the day-to-day management of the site, helping to oversee subcontractors and trades. Aid in monitoring site progress to ensure that all activities align with project plans and timelines. Help with the coordination of trades and ensure resources are used efficiently. Provide administrative support for site records, including daily logs and health & safety documents. Communicate site issues to the Site Manager and contribute to problem-solving. Health & Safety: Assist in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations on-site. Support in conducting site inductions and ensuring the correct use of PPE. Assist in carrying out risk assessments and maintaining health and safety documentation. Report any safety issues to the Site Manager promptly. Quality Assurance: Help to monitor the quality of workmanship and materials to ensure it meets the required standards. Assist in conducting site inspections and raising any defects or issues with the Senior Site Manager. Ensure that materials are checked and stored appropriately on-site. Subcontractor Coordination: Support the coordination of subcontractors’ work to ensure it aligns with project schedules. Assist in monitoring subcontractor performance and attendance. Help resolve any on-site issues or conflicts between trades. Documentation & Reporting: Help maintain up-to-date site records, including daily progress reports, delivery logs, and site instructions. Support the Site Manager in preparing site reports for senior management and clients. Skills and Experience Required: Experience in construction (interior fit-out experience is a plus but not necessary). Candidates can come from a joinery background or construction-related degree, with recent graduates being considered. Strong organizational and communication skills. A good understanding of health and safety requirements on a construction site. Ability to read and understand project drawings and specifications. Qualifications & Certifications: SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervisors' Safety Training Scheme) certification is required. CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card is essential. First Aid at Work certification is desirable. Degree in a construction-related field (desirable but not essential). Personal Attributes: Proactive and willing to learn, with a hands-on approach to site management. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to liaise with subcontractors, trades, and clients. Compensation & Benefits: Overnight Allowance: £40 per night for overnight stays. Overtime: £250 per weekend day worked (on top of the salary). 25 days of paid annual leave plus public holidays for new starters, increasing to 27 days and then to 30 days with tenure.
