Assistant Manager - Role Profile
Vacancy description: Colwill Lodge Short Breaks Service 1 x 37-hour fixed term position. Grade F £32,654.00 to £35,235.00.
Position is on a fixed term basis from April 2025 until end of May 2026 and the candidate will work alongside the service through a restructure of working towards a new building and service delivery.
Are you a passionate and motivated individual who has the ability to support adults with a learning disability in a person-centred way that focuses on the rights and choices of individuals whilst being responsible for the daily operations of a short breaks service and emergency placements over a 24-hour period?
Colwill Lodge Short Breaks Service provides quality planned overnight short breaks stays and emergency crisis support/temporary accommodation for adults with learning disabilities and their families living in Plymouth and its surrounding areas.
The essential requirements for this post include:
1. Experience and understanding of people with a learning disability, who may have a range of complex health and social care support needs.
2. Knowledge and experience of the need for dignity, respect and sensitivity when working with people with a learning disability.
3. Management experience, experience in care planning, assessment and review processes.
4. Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding adults' local and national procedures and legislation.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate must have the knowledge and understanding of the Care Quality Commission's fundamental standards for adult social care as well as a social care qualification i.e. NVQ3, Health and social care diploma or management qualification.
In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Direct supervision of supervisees, regular and annual performance discussions, and management of staff on shift.
2. Prioritising workload, medication management, and completing delegated duties.
3. Undertaking sickness monitoring and other HR processes, policies and procedures, and implementing performance management policies and procedures.
4. Conducting weekly workplace inspections, fire alarm tests, and relevant health and safety checks.
Effective communication skills and the ability to use a range of communication methods when liaising with service users, families, stakeholders, and relevant health and social care professionals and partnership organisations are essential. The successful candidates must have the ability to work as part of a team, lone work, and actively contribute to a positive work culture.
The post involves the ability to work a flexible rota which includes shift working over 24-hour shifts, sleeping in duties, day shifts, weekends, and bank holidays to meet the needs of our customers.
