As a Packaging Technologist you will work in a cross-functional brand pod to deliver new packaging solutions to agreed time, cost and CSR standards. You will use your extensive packaging technical knowledge and expertise to develop packaging from concept to manufacturing scale-up which delights consumers and drives growth for Global Brands.
About the role
1. Accountable for delivering the packaging and selected artwork activities on the 3YR Global Brand NPD, EPD and PLM plan either internally or in collaboration with 3rd parties against the consumer, category and brand requirements.
2. Uses high levels of packaging expertise to optimise specification, challenge thinking and ensure the best, most scientifically robust product design and artwork.
3. All stakeholders are managed to ensure on time to the correct cost and quality and optimises the output from the work.
4. Accountable for quality of data and accuracy, and for the delivery of the final specifications and manufacturing documents.
5. Consistently prepares written reports for defined audience following scientific principles and legislative requirements as appropriate with minimal support which include regulated product technical files.
6. Conducts all necessary due diligence and is accountable for identifying and effectively managing packaging technical risks.
7. Accountable for the packaging product lifecycle management including investigating customer complaints and identifying and delivering ongoing packaging and technical process improvements.
What you’ll need to have
1. Proven track record of developing packaging from design concept to market, ideally within FMCG environment.
2. Excellent knowledge of key packaging technologies, print processes, artwork and origination. This will include a good understanding of IP principles; when and how to protect IP and to resolve IP challenges and how to apply the principles of good Lean design i.e. identification of customer value to drive efficiency across the appropriate value chain.
3. Experience of tooling new pack shapes.
4. Proven ability to manage risk, priorities and overall timings for complex technical projects.
5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
