We seek an acute General Paediatrician for our busy district general hospital. This is a Locum 12 month fixed term post covering maternity leave. This post has no night shift or on-calls but some resident duties covering evenings and weekends on the Child Assessment Unit. The role is to support our general paediatric services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will mainly be involved in clinical work, but will also be expected to participate in the junior doctor teaching programme or other non-clinical duties.
The post holder will take part in a rota with 6 other consultants on similar job plans on a 1 in 7 rota. The post holder will work 10 PAs per week (average 40 hour working week includes out of hours work), with weekends covering the Child Assessment Unit (CAU) at a frequency of 3 in 14 weeks (one 2 pm to 10 pm and two 9 am to 9 pm), and weekday evenings 5 to 10 pm at a frequency of 1 weekday in 12 (together with 5 other consultants). The post holder will also take part in the attending consultant of the week, 1 week in 7, where they are one of two consultants covering the inpatient ward, with flexibility to help with acute duties on the Child Assessment Unit / Emergency Department (ED) in the afternoon based on acuity and demand.
