Amazon Freight is looking for an Operations Project Manager with a track record in operational management and a data-driven approach to problem-solving to be a part of the less than truckload (LTL) business. The Amazon Freight Team provides transportation services for external shippers that use the logistics network we built for Amazon to deliver freight safely, on time, and at competitive costs. We offer shippers access to the same network of carriers, technology infrastructure, and tools that Amazon uses to move thousands of loads daily. Businesses of all sizes have access to the costs and levels of service of one of the largest shippers in the world. Amazon Freight spins Amazon’s broader flywheel by utilizing empty miles by bringing in freight that flows complementary to our existing network.
Operations Project Manager
As an Operations Project Manager within AF EU Operations - Less than truckload (LTL), you will be responsible for undertaking projects across the LTL business, which support operational and quality goals. A successful candidate should be able to dive deep into data, present and implement changes for the business, and think short/mid to long term. The Operations Project Manager should understand customer centricity and also demonstrate high-quality output and strong stakeholder management skills in a customer contact environment.
Key Job Responsibilities
1. Partnering with business development, product, and the operations team to ensure alignment on key objectives for efficient and on-time project implementation. Influence stakeholders with different priorities and functions including but not limited to technology, legal, and finance.
2. Support implementation of the required governance mechanism via KPI and metrics, along with ad hoc reporting and analytical deep-dives for successful project deliverables.
3. Work with the Less than Truckload team to identify and remediate operational issues with a specific focus on continuous improvements. Collaborate within a team to find practical and simple solutions to complicated problems.
4. Manage key communication to stakeholders regarding ongoing projects to ensure successful implementations.
5. Support operations change management related to quality initiatives and process launches.
6. Create/review/update standard operating procedures to drive uniformity and standardization across operational teams linked to your projects.
7. As required, support operations by guiding the team through excellent communication, decision-making, coaching, and personal development planning.
About the Team
Amazon Freight (AF) stands out as a trailblazing B2B start-up within Amazon Transportation Services in Europe. Its start-up nature requires flexibility, adaptability, and a keen understanding of evolving landscapes. This role leads the AF EU Operations Less than Truckload, which is part of the Pan-European central control center for Amazon Freight's Shipper Support and Transportation Execution. The Less than Truckload team is responsible for planning and scheduling the transport orders placed by our customers (Shippers) and providing them with world-class support at each step of their journey.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Strong analytical problem-solving skills, being able to diagnose the root cause of issues.
2. Proficiency in SQL and knowledge of Excel, Oracle BI, Tableau, Unix, Visual Basic, and/or other analytical tools.
3. Ability to think quantitatively and qualitatively about operating processes and outcomes.
4. Hands-on experience in managing projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business operations, project management, etc.).
2. Experience driving process improvement, familiarity with 6 sigma/lean, green belt certification.
3. Proficiency in German.
4. Managing or leading a team of directs.
