Role: Director of Governance
Location: Chorley & South Ribble
Contract: Full time (36.26 hours per week) / Permanent
Salary: £88,185 plus competitive benefits

Are you looking for an opportunity to be a senior Statutory Officer across two dynamic and forward-thinking local authorities? We are looking for a new Director of Governance to support us in delivering the best outcomes for residents.
In this role, you'll be part of a fantastic and friendly Senior Leadership team who work collaboratively and supportively to deliver the best possible services and support. Working across 2 progressive organisations can be challenging but is also rewarding. You will be responsible for leading the way with strong governance and democratic services to ensure that decisions are sound and effective. With specific responsibilities for legal, democratic services, procurement, audit and risk, elections and corporate support, you will be influencing the foundations of our organisations.
What you'll be getting up to
1. Ensuring that both councils operate within legal boundaries
2. Supporting effective, sound decision making
3. Upholding ethical standards
4. Overseeing the proper conduct of elected members and officers
5. Acting as the key advisor on constitutional matters and legal compliance
6. Line management of the Head of Democratic Services, the Head of Audit and Risk and the Head of Legal and Procurement.

Other requirements
1. This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
