Job summary
We are seeking a part time (16 hours per week) pro-active Health Care Assistant to support the delivery of high quality patient care within our GP surgery. You will work closely with the clinical team to provide a range of clinical and administrative services, contributing to the health and wellbeing of our practice population.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
1. Perform routine health checks (e.g., blood pressure, height, weight, BMI)
2. Long Term Conditions reviews (LTCS)
3. Carry out ECGs
4. Home Visits
5. Administer vaccinations (e.g., flu) and injections (if trained)
6. Carry out wound care and dressings
7. Assist with chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, asthma)
8. Conduct NHS health checks and new patient health checks
9. Support minor surgery and other clinical procedures
10. Process specimens and ensure accurate labelling and transportation
11. Maintain accurate and timely clinical records
12. Infection control
Administrative Duties:
1. Ensure consultation rooms are clean, well-stocked, and prepared for clinics
2. Support stock control and ordering of medical supplies
3. Assist with recall systems and patient reminders
4. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow data protection policies
About us
We are a GP teaching Practice along with teaching students from university. We are high achieving and forward thinking. The team consists of 3 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 1 Practice Nurse, 2 HCAs, Practice Manager, and a full complement of practice administrators.
We form part of Citrus PCN and offer extended hours with a complement of ARRS staff at the practice: Physio, Pharmacists, Social prescribers, and care co-ordinators.

Qualifications Essential:
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification)
* Experience working in a healthcare setting
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Compassionate, patient-focused approach
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Good organisational and time-management skills
* Commitment to patient confidentiality and data protection
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a General Practice or Primary Care setting/Care home setting
