Overview of the Job
The role is based in Peterborough and will involve working with groups and one-to one to deliver programmes and bespoke support to those with experience of the criminal justice system. You will be working with individuals residing in prison and those that are now in the community providing an important rehabilitative and re-integration service. You will have resilience and adaptability; understand the importance of professional boundaries; have excellent listening skills and the ability to demonstrate empathy. You will enjoy the challenge of a busy caseload and will be able to demonstrate the excellent organisation skills essential to managing a demanding and diverse workload.
Responsibilities and Duties
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:
• Manage complex caseload of service users following the FSFE policies and procedures.
• Develop a user-centred support plan.
• Demonstrate pro-social modelling skills by consistently re-enforcing pro-social behaviour and attitudes.
• Undertaking the process of needs assessment and risk management.
• Escalate any identifiable vulnerabilities or safeguarding needs to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Maintain accurate records of assessments and contact with clients.
• Signpost clients onto local services providing specialist advice.
• Participate in regular case management reviews.
• Participate in team training, supervisory and development sessions, contributing to the professional development of yourself and the service.
• Source pathways for education, training and employment.
• Attend professional meetings with partners and external agencies.
• Deliver grant funded programmes that fall in line with your job description.
• Motivate clients to access positive opportunities towards change.
• Participate in community outreach and awareness activities.
• To use computer-based systems to produce, update and maintain records and other documentation within agreed timescales.
• To undertake other duties as identified by the Service Manager, COO or CEO.
Skills and Qualifications
Experienced gained in the following roles tend to transfer well to the role of caseworker: roles within the criminal justice system, counsellor, education, and health and social care.
• Experience of working with those with heightened vulnerabilities.
• Experience of working with a diverse range of people who have experienced a range of social/personal difficulties, and of using tact and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
• Have strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.
• A full UK driving license with access to your own transport and are willing to use it for work purposes (travelling expenses are reimbursed).
• Competent IT skills (Microsoft Office and Outlook).
• Advocacy Skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Evidence of key competencies in literacy and numeracy with at least a qualification at GCSE grade C/4, NVQ Level 2, or equivalent.
• Ability to balance competing needs and priorities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering services and working directly within statutory, voluntary or multi-agency setting(s).
• A successful track record of building effective working relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
• Awareness of issues surrounding homelessness, offending, financial inclusion, mental health or alcohol and substance abuse.
• Organised and excellent time management.
Desirable but not essential – Higher level academic qualifications and/or Level 3 qualifications and above.
Essential Information
The salary is £11.55 per hour
This is a permanent part-time role at 18 to 24 hours per week at our Peterborough Office
