Production Technician £35-40k 33 days holiday including Bank Holidays Free onsite Parking Our client based in Ashton Under Lyne have a permanent opening for a Production Technician to join their team. The Production Technician will support Production Operators with technical issues during the testing and assembly of products. The role will also include creating and setting up test stations for new products. Assisting with the testing of complex products for production conformance testing. Key responsibilities of the Production Technician: Act as the point of reference for technical issues in production area. Investigate technical problems experienced by the production team during manufacturing. Find root cause and implement corrective actions. Define test procedures for new products and either create the test equipment or specify it for third party supply. Maintain and improve existing test equipment and procedures. Support with fault diagnosis and recommended repairs for products returned for service and repair. Assist the quality department in finding the failure mode and corrective actions for warranty returns. Collaborate with design engineering in design reviews offering input on test methods and lessons learned from production. Support the production manager with new quotation where test processes costs and procedures must be defined. Prepare documentation for any new test procedure or equipment in accordance with the company procedures. Key competencies/ Attributes for the Production Technician: Good understanding of electro-mechanical products. Able to read engineering drawings, circuit diagrams, Bill of materials and assembly instructions. Strong electronic fault-finding skills to component level. Soldering to a good standard. Motivated and able to work with little supervision. Able to take responsibility and commitment to deliver to deadlines. Report writing. Excellent attention to detail. Able to operate complex test equipment with training Good computer skills with MS Office tools Experience and Qualifications: Mechanical or Electronic Engineering to HND level or BTEC level 4 or NVQ level 5 Experience of a manufacturing environment Experince as an electronic test and repair technician Knowledge of lighting products or the rail industry would be beneficial
