To deal with the day-to-day administration, billing, collection and recovery of local taxation owed to the Council. Cover a high volume of telephone calls received in the department, providing advice where appropriate. To seek the most efficient collection routes meeting council and customers’ needs and influence the implementation of best practice processes in performance and service delivery so that the team meets its collection targets and supports broader corporate objectives. To contribute to the development and implementation of Council policy in relation to Local Taxation collection and to ensure that the service is operated in accordance with those policies and regulations Offer advice on all matters for both Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates, including those which relate to enquiries from vulnerable residents/businesses and their representatives both by telephone and in written correspondence; ensuring that you adhere to the Councils agreed guidelines and vulnerability. The successful candidate will be able to evidence previous experience in a high-target driven environment and be able to demonstrate working with the public both in writing and via telephone. Existing Council Tax or Business Rate knowledge would be preferable but not essential as full training will be provided.
