Role: Citrix and Windows Specialist Location: Milton Keynes (Hybrid - 2 days on-site) Duration: 3-6 Months initial contract potential to be extended Day rate: £600 inside IR35 Role Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Citrix and Windows Infrastructure Specialist to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. This role is crucial in maintaining and enhancing our Citrix virtualized environment, ensuring the security and performance of our Windows infrastructure, and supporting a key migration project to Windows 11. Key Responsibilities: Citrix Administration: Manage, troubleshoot, and optimise Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Provisioning Services (PVS), and Hypervisor environments, including application/desktop creation, patching, and reporting. Windows Server Management: Build, harden (CIS standards), and maintain Windows Server 2019 infrastructure. Windows Client Management: Design, deploy, harden (CIS standards), and manage applications on Windows 10, with a focus on preparation and execution for a Windows 11 migration project. Group Policy Management: Implement, maintain, and audit Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security and configuration settings across the Windows environment, including CIS hardening. Citrix Published Application Management: Oversee the design, deployment, patching, hardening, and reporting for Citrix Published Applications. Project Support: Actively participate in the planning, testing, and rollout phases of the Windows 11 migration project, ensuring compatibility with Citrix and other core systems. Documentation and Collaboration: Maintain documentation and collaborate effectively with other IT teams. Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex issues related to the Citrix and Windows environment. Security and Compliance: Implement and manage security hardening guidelines across all supported platforms and systems. Required Skills and Experience: Proven experience working as a Citrix and Windows Infrastructure Specialist or in a similar role. Strong expertise in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix Provisioning Services, and Citrix Hypervisor. In-depth knowledge of Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server 2019 operating systems. Experience with application packaging, deployment, and management. Proficiency in implementing and managing Group Policy Objects (GPOs). Solid understanding of CIS hardening guidelines. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) is highly desirable. Citrix certifications (e.g., CCP-V, CCE-V) are a plus. Experience with other virtualisation technologies (e.g., ZenServer) is a plus. Previous involvement in Windows OS migration projects will be viewed favourably.
