Main Purpose of the Role:
* Reporting to the director of logistics, the Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the shipping process to ensure timely, accurate, and secure global distribution. This may include tracking orders, managing shipping documents, directing package flow, inspecting completed orders, supervising subordinates, controlling the shipping department's budget, resolving order-related issues, providing import clearance instructions/pre-alerts and ensuring compliance with regulations.
* In addition, the postholder will be required to assist the Integrated Operations Centre, Warehouse & Maintenance, and Repair & Overhaul (MRO) teams, with all transportation transactions for the company. This is inclusive of the day-to-day implementation of export/import procedures and resolving compliance issues, while meeting the company’s customers’ needs.
Duties & Responsibilities of the Logistics Manager:
* Assist all the companies departments with tracking information and locating shipments, shipping costs and routing information as required.
* Plan and implement an overall shipping strategy. Prepare and present KPI reports whilst suggesting solutions for process optimization.
* Weekly CASS review and reporting. Review of any discrepancies and highlight accordingly with the FF.
* Work with facilities, shipping department and freight forwarder personnel to arrange, expedite and negotiate any special or critical shipments.
* Assist the shipping department with the hazardous material packing procedure and Air transport Association regulation.
* Approve freight invoices to be paid, resolving any associated issues.
* Provide instruction, training and answer questions relating to transportation procedures.
* Provide import customs instructions to freight forwarder/brokers to proceed to the clearance of shipments. System in place to provide import/export documentation as required to authorities for compliance/ AEO license requirements.
* Review and confirm classification, value and integrity of import documentation.
* Maintain an appropriate filing system.
* Apply working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, verify documents for completeness and compliances.
* Maintain and manage the companies preferred carriers ensuring vendor performance and services are competitive, reviewing service levels as required.
* Analyse freight costs and create reports.
* Assist in the development of freight bids and review subsequent proposals, in matters of vendor performance and costs.
* Check and improve the reliability of the data in the companies Inventory Management Order Processing System (IMOPS).
* Understand and contribute to ensuring departmental and company targets are met
* Adhere to all Health & Safety guidelines and Quality responsibilities
* Adhere to all company procedures and processes.
* As business needs dictate, the post holder may be required to undertake additional duties of a level commensurate with their existing responsibility.
