Teaching Personnel’s dedicated SEN team is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join one of our specialist partner SEN schools in Bolton. This rewarding role offers the chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of students with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Complex Learning Difficulties.
The school is exceptionally well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a hydrotherapy suite and sensory play rooms, designed to support student engagement, learning, and wellbeing.
Your Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting Learning and Development: Work 1:1 or in small groups, following students' individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) to support a variety of learning activities.
* Promoting Emotional Wellbeing: Foster a nurturing environment, helping students regulate emotions, build confidence, and engage positively with their peers and surroundings.
* Collaborating with the Classroom Teacher: Assist in planning and delivering creative, engaging lessons, adapting activities and resources to ensure accessibility for all students.
* Using Specialist Resources: Work with tools like Alternative Communication Boards, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) cards, and sensory equipment. (No prior experience required — full training provided!)
* Personal Care and Daily Living Support: Support students with activities such as dressing, feeding, and personal hygiene where required, ensuring dignity and respect are maintained at all times.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking individuals with a caring, proactive mindset who are passionate about supporting young people. Ideally, you’ll have:
* Experience Working with Children: This can be professional (e.g., in a school, nursery, or care setting) or personal (e.g., supporting a family member with additional needs).
* Special Educational Needs Experience (Desirable): Prior experience working with SEN or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is an advantage, but not essential.
* Adaptable and Positive Attitude: An outgoing, approachable, and resilient personality, with the confidence to take initiative in a busy classroom setting.
* Commitment to Safeguarding: A strong understanding of (or willingness to learn) safeguarding procedures, ensuring student safety and wellbeing at all times.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
