Kingsley Napley LLP
Full/ time permanent position – flexible applications always considered
A brand-new opportunity at Kingsley Napley (KN) for a Head of Data. Someone to develop & lead a newly created data strategy; one that is closely aligned with the growth plans of the firm.
KN stands on the verge of a transformative era. The way we view our data is more than just an asset, it is a key pillar for strategic decision making and future innovation. The firm has a clear vision; to harness the power of our data for key decision making, operational excellence, and overall client satisfaction- and we recognise the pivotal role that data will play in driving forward the firm’s success.
The development of this role/ data team reflects the direction of travel and how we operate in a fast-moving and ever-evolving technological landscape. As Head of Data you will drive forward and implement the firm’s data strategy and ensure the operational data management solutions are fit for purpose and adding business value. You will lead and guide the team and firm through the complexities of data governance & quality assurance, as well as supporting our Innovation team with the strategic application of AI and knowledge management tools.
You will be responsible for understanding and building out the technology landscape – and the role that data plays - looking at what we have/ how it’s working and carrying out a firm-wide consultation with key stakeholders.
This role is dedicated to tackling both our current & future data challenges; bringing ‘good’ and consistent data across an entire estate and creating a data-centric culture. Whilst the role naturally aligns itself to functions such as IT, Innovation, Knowledge Management and Finance - collaboration across various stakeholders and business services teams will be integral to the team’s success.
What’s exciting and also challenging?
* This is a green-field newly created role (one to put your stamp on) - that will impact the entire firm. This is a big role and there’s a lot to do…
* We’re looking for someone who can bring data together across a full-service law firm; create a data governance framework and build & maintain a data-centric culture
* You will work closely with the firm’s fantastic CIO as well as other partners and business leaders. Whilst your role will have independence and autonomy over building out & developing the strategy; you will have full support from the team (data team currently two people) as well as Ash Cooper (CIO) as a sounding board & guide
* You will work across the whole business; including our newly created functions (Knowledge Management and Innovation) as well as the firm's 13 unique practice areas and service offerings
* The work with the Innovation team in particular will allow you to explore and implement innovative data solutions that can enhance the firm’s service offerings and client experiences. We’re on the cusp of some very exciting changes
* Strategic thinking for the future in terms of investment; what the firm needs, how it can support the firm’s goals and future proofing us. Our budgets are not enormous and all teams are looking for improvements in data - so you will need to take a commercial approach
* We have been consistently voted a top firm to work for by Best Companies. We genuinely value flexibility, wellness and wellbeing and allow every individual to authentically be themselves at work.
However, whilst we are proud of the work we do, it is our people who are the key to our success. KN takes wellness and well-being very seriously, and we have a number of initiatives and programmes in place to ensure that our people feel included, happy and motivated at work. We look for passionate, committed and diverse ‘team players’ whose core values align with ours.
KN also offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits package and a flexible/hybrid working model.
