Blackstone Recruitment are working with a Registered Charity who aims to conduct the UK's largest ever health research programme. This programme is designed to help people live healthier lives for longer through the discovery and testing more effective approaches to prevention, detection and treatment of diseases such as cancer, dementia, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes and stroke.
The fixed and mobile sites are based in four locations: West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Birmingham, and London with capacity for circa 220,000 appointments (18y/o+ from all backgrounds and ethnicities).
Role Title: Service Delivery Lead (SDL)
Reports to: Regional Manager
Location: Penzance, Cornwall
Role Purpose:
We have some very exciting opportunities for nurses or healthcare staff to occupy the role of a Service Delivery Lead (SDL). This role will play a key part in ensuring that we provide high-quality patient centred services that are led and delivered by highly skilled teams. The post holder is responsible for providing clinical leadership, ensuring that patient flow is managed effectively, without delay through the fixed site and mobile units. The SDL role is key in ensuring that quality improvements based on service feedback and learning following incident investigation are delivered with the teams on sites as well as being instrumental with ensuring that any clinical modernisations or adjustments are achieved to enhance the patient experience.
The SDL role is a critical operational position and will be present in each site, replicating service delivery models that we offer across all our NHS contracts. The role is a supernumerary position, offering clinical and operational supervision. The SDL role is the first line of escalation on site for all operational queries.
The SDL will offer additional capacity, support and resilience to cover breaks or cover during periods of increased activity to prevent delay to the participants being seen as well as covering periods of staffing gaps as well as being the lead in the event of an emergency/Vasovagal episode.
Job Responsibilities:
Strong Clinical Leadership
1. The ideal candidate needs to be a critical thinker with excellent leadership and engagement skills and must encompass the ability to challenge thinking/approaches positively and creatively to the betterment of operational policy and working practices.
2. Ability to support the HCA's/Phlebotomists as required when they are taking the participant measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, cholesterol levels and collect a small sample of their blood.
3. Ability and competence to support the HCA/Phlebotomist if they have failed twice at taking the participants blood, to reassure the participant and seek consent to allow them to draw the sample.
4. They will lead and facilitate the planning of the site or mobile staffing rota escalating staffing gaps or challenges effectively and efficiently to the regional manager for support.
5. This role will play a pivotal part in engagement with participants as well as the local teams, therefore the postholder needs to be experienced in leading teams and services.

7. They must have excellent communication skills and be able to confidently engage with staff at all levels as well as participants and site visitors.
Professional Leadership
1. Provide advice, guidance and support to the team on the ground.
2. Be visible and supportive of the teams.
3. Pay attention to detail and lead the team by example.
4. Respond to requests from the regional manager or staff at all levels escalating as appropriate for support.
Designing of Services
Provide service feedback and oversight to the regional manager/Head of Nursing or Chief Nurse in support of clinical operations, advise on challenges with the pathway, patient flow, staffing and skill mix.
Evaluation of Implementation of Services
1. Conduct site assessments, advise on safety, clinical effectiveness, specialist policies and procedures, assurance of clinical standards and the patient experience.
2. Ensure all risks are escalated directly to the regional manager/Head of Nursing.
3. Report all incidents and near misses onto Datix. Report any complaints or concerns onto Datix.
Quality and Safety
1. Participate in the feedback required when an investigation is taking place regarding any complaints, incidents, audits.
2. Support the Implementation of any learning outcomes in collaboration with the regional manager/head of nursing.
3. Report any accidents onto Datix thereby addressing risk issues and promoting and maintaining quality care.
Education and Training
1. Support the regional manager/Head of Nursing in governance matters, quality improvements and training and updating of the frontline staff.
Essential Experience and Credentials
1. NMC/HCPC Registration or appropriate skills and experience evidenced on the CV and references.
2. Evidence of substantial CPD in clinically related and relevant subjects.
3. Experience of working in an outpatients or similar clinical setting.
4. Minimum of 1 year's experience in Phlebotomy and able to evidence training and competency.
5. Trained as a minimum in Basic Life Support (Immediate and Advanced Life Support Training is advantageous).
6. Sound understanding of quality standards, key performance indicators, risk assessments, incident reporting, and infection prevention and control.
7. Excellent communication and influencing skills.
8. You will be highly motivated and used to working in challenging but rewarding environments.
