To lead the Logistics business function for Taylor Wimpey. The Logistics Director will be integral to the management and development of Taylor Wimpey's Logistics operations.
The Logistics Director will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our logistics operations are not only efficient but also innovative and forward-thinking. This person will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of logistics management, from planning and implementation to continuous improvement and development.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. To lead a multi-disciplinary team including Finance, Customer Service, Scheduling, Stock, and Warehouse Operations to provide industry-leading pricing and service to the group businesses.
2. Accountability for the financial performance of the business. Accurate budgeting and forecasting of throughput and costs, improving the cost efficiency of the operation.
3. Management of the transportation and carrier operation through 3rd party service providers.
4. Ensuring effective cost control, driving cost effectiveness and delivering best-in-class customer service.
5. Develop ways of working involving ongoing improvement in H&S to deliver industry best performance.
6. Set, monitor, control, and continually improve on the service provided in all aspects of the operation, transport, and administration to ensure the Business Unit has a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
7. Establish the most productive, efficient team dynamics that continue an excellent working environment that provides security, consistency, and reliability.
8. Establish a proactive Leadership Team who maximize the collective effort necessary to ensure business targets are met cost-effectively, within deadlines and quality parameters.
9. Build and develop customer relationships at National level with operational managers and business leaders. Listening and engaging with what is important to the local management team. Creating a relationship based upon trust, professionalism, and delivery of alignment.
10. Lead efficiency improvements through the use of a class-leading Warehouse Management System.
Key Competencies:
1. Track record in logistics distribution and supply chain management ideally within a customer-centric environment.
2. Exposure to product supply within the commercial building/property development/construction industry and understanding of the commercial relationships within this sector will be preferred. Although it is not a prerequisite, the successful candidate will ideally be educated to degree level or have suitable professional qualifications.
3. Highly commercial individual comfortable partnering with the Supply Chain Director.
4. Expertise in managing complex logistics operations.
5. Proven track record of operating at a senior level within a complex, medium to large company.
